How the Numerology System Works

The numerology system is to believe in the meaning of numbers, relating them to people’s lives. It is based on ideas from the universe to reduce numerical values and have meanings and influence on people. The idea is that the universe reduces a numerical value so that these meanings influence people’s lives.

The Numbers of Meanings

In numerology, each number from 0 – 9 assigns a meaning or specific vibrations, and these numbers are combined to create complex meanings. Numbers derived from a person’s name and date of birth often use an idea of personality traits, path, and destiny. For example, the number 1 is associated with leadership, independence, and creativity. However, the number 2 is associated with cooperation, balance, and diplomacy. When they analyze numbers with a person’s name and date of birth, the numerologist provides information about strengths, weaknesses, and life paths.

Numerology is not scientifically proven, and its effectiveness and accuracy are debated. It is considered a form of divination or spiritual practice; many believe it is a tool for personal self-discovery.

Numerology

Numerology (known before the 20th century as arithmancy) is the belief in an occult, divine, or mystical relationship between a number and one or more coinciding events. It is also the study of the numerical value, via an alphanumeric system, of the letters in words and names. When Numerology is applied to a person’s name, it is a form of onomancy. It is often associated with the paranormal and astrology and is similar to divinatory arts.

Etymology

Arithmancy is derived from two Greek words – arithmos (meaning number) and manteia (meaning divination). “Αριθμομαντεία” Arithmancy is thus the study of prophecy through numbers.^[2] Although the word “arithmancy” dates to the 1570s,^[3] the term “numerology” is not recorded in English before c. 1907.^[4]

Methods of Divination 

It can be found worldwide; many cultures practice the same techniques under different names. During the Middle Ages, scholars coined terms for many of these methods. Some of which had hitherto been unnamed—in Medieval Latin, very often utilizing the suffix -mantia. When the art seemed more mystical (ultimately from Ancient Greek μαντεία, manteía, ‘prophecy’ or ‘the power to prophesy’). The suffix -scopia when the art seemed more scientific (ultimately from Greek σκοπεῖν, skopeîn, ‘to observe’). Names like drimimantia, nigromantia, and horoscopia arose, along with other pseudosciences such as phrenology and physiognomy.^[1]
